From the login screen, click Forgot password?. We'll email a reset link to the address on your account. The link expires after 1 hour for security. If you don't see it, check spam, then add support@b2notes.com to your contacts.
Open Settings → Security and turn on Two-factor authentication. We'll guide you through pairing an authenticator app (Authy, 1Password, Google Authenticator, etc.). After that, every login from a new device requires a 6-digit code.
If you lose access to your authenticator, contact us with proof of account ownership and we'll help you recover it.
Go to Settings → Account and edit your email. We'll send a verification link to the new address — your account email isn't changed until you click it.
From Settings → Account → Danger Zone, click Delete my account. You'll be asked to type your password and confirm. Deletion is immediate and irreversible — all notes, files, mind maps, drawings, charts, and tickets are removed within 24 hours.
Before deleting, consider exporting your data (Settings → Export) — once deleted, we can't recover anything.
An account is required for cloud sync, multi-device access, and data backup. The application itself is local-first — your notes live on your device — but we use the account to identify you when syncing.
Go to Settings → Export. You'll get a ZIP containing:
Export works at any time — even during your free trial — and you own everything you create.
Notes you mark as Encrypted are protected with XChaCha20-Poly1305 (a modern authenticated cipher). The key is derived from your vault passphrase, which we never store or transmit — meaning we cannot read your encrypted notes even if we wanted to.
Non-encrypted notes are stored on our servers in plain form (still secured at the database level, but readable to administrators if compelled by law). If a note is sensitive, encrypt it.
Yes. Sign in on each device and your notes sync automatically. The sync is real-time when you're online and queues changes while offline. There is no per-device limit.
Yes. The app is local-first and works fully offline. Edits made while offline sync the moment you reconnect. The cloud is for backup and multi-device sync, not the source of truth.
Imports from Markdown, HTML, Notion, Evernote, and Bear are supported via Settings → Import. Each imported file becomes a note; folder structure is preserved when possible. Tags and cross-references are mapped to B2 Notes' tag and link systems.
Nothing is deleted. You revert to your license's included storage limit (10/50/100 GB depending on tier). If you're already over that limit, new uploads are paused until you free space, but existing files stay readable for as long as you have a license.
A license is a one-time purchase that gives you the full app forever — no recurring charges. A storage subscription is optional, only relevant if you need more cloud storage than your license includes. See the pricing page for the full breakdown.
From Settings → License, click Upgrade. You'll pay the difference between tiers plus a small administrative fee ($20 to Pro, $30 Pro→Lifetime, $40 Standard→Lifetime). Your data is unaffected.
License activation is instant in 99% of cases. If the badge hasn't updated within 5 minutes, log out and back in to refresh. If it's still wrong after that, send us a ticket with your order number — we'll fix it within an hour during business hours.
Perpetual licenses are refundable for any reason within 30 days of purchase. Email us with your order number — refunds are processed within 5 business days.
Storage subscriptions are not refundable but you can cancel anytime; you keep access through the end of the billing period.
Submit a ticket below with the Billing category and include either your .edu email, faculty ID, or nonprofit registration. We'll send back a discount code within one business day.
Yes — and it's a first-class target. The drawing tools support Apple Pencil pressure and tilt, charts/mind maps work with touch and pencil, and the layout adapts to portrait or landscape. The Magic Keyboard works for all keyboard shortcuts.
Charts requires a screen wider than ~700 pixels because the data grid and preview pane don't compress well below that. Use Charts on a tablet or desktop. Everything else (notes, kanban, mind maps, calendar, captures) works fine on phones.
Connect your Spotify account from Settings → Integrations. The mini-player and full Music tool then control Spotify directly — playback, queue, library — without leaving B2 Notes. Your listening history isn't stored or shared by us.
Yes. Right-click any tool in the activity bar and choose Open in new window. Edits in one window sync to the other in real time via BroadcastChannel — useful when Speechify is reading a note in one window while you mind-map in another.
Open any item (note, kanban board, mind map, drawing, chart, calendar event, or capture), click Link to…, and pick another item. The link is bidirectional and visible in Graph View as a connection between nodes.
Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, and Brave on their last two major versions. Mobile Safari and Chrome on Android also work. Older browsers may run but won't get full feature support — particularly the Drawing canvas and Graph View, which need modern Canvas and CSS features.

Confirmed bugs get fixed in the next minor release; severe ones get hotfixed.
Most slowdowns come from one of three things:
If none of that helps, send us a ticket with details and we'll investigate.
An official API is on the roadmap but not available yet. The data export tool is the recommended way to get your content out for use elsewhere. If you have a specific automation use case, let us know — it helps us prioritize.
B2 Notes is a Progressive Web App. In Chrome/Edge, click the install icon in the address bar. On iOS Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android, you'll see a prompt to install. After installation it runs in its own window with offline support.
